A living room is often one of the most utilized rooms in a house. It can be used as a gathering place for youthful hangouts or study sessions. If your living room is on the smaller side, make sure you are aware of the furniture pieces you are putting into that room. If you use your living area as a space where you watch television or movies often the placement of the furniture and TV or projector is even more important. Placing the television and seating furniture along opposite walls is often the best and possibly only real solution, proper placement of an area rug will help keep your room from visually shrinking. Place the area rug in front of or underneath the television then place the furniture along the opposite outside edge of the rug. This visually expands your floor space and will keep you from feeling too cramped. If possible, use a round or oval shaped rug to eliminate a boxy feel.
